Liz Truss’s kiss of death comes to Mar-a-Lago

The Angel of Death strikes again.

On Monday night, as Republicans at Mar-a-Lago would have been bracing for the so-called Blue Wave, they were met with an altogether more horrifying prospect: having to spend the evening with Liz Truss.

The former prime minister, who has seemingly made it her life’s mission to turn everything she touches into a political (or literal) corpse, was on hand to witness yet another spectacular political demise.

Queen Elizabeth II dropped dead 48 hours after first meeting Truss, and her mini budget all but doomed the Conservative Party to a long, slow, demise. Now, she appears to have set her sights on MAGA. Is there anything this woman can’t kill?

In a Facebook post, Truss proudly shared a photograph of a dinner attended by Polish MEP Dominik Tarczyński – who has previously spoken at Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom rally in 2025 – and his “fellow freedom fighters” in one of Mar-a-Lago’s suitably tasteful gilded banquet rooms. Sadly, nobody seems to have warned them that an electoral nuclear bomb was being dropped just outside the dining hall.

It’s been quite the run for Truss, whose recently published book, Bank Job, was widely panned. Presumably her publisher is the latest institution to find itself caught in her orbit of destruction.

One hopes she was able to offer some comfort to her darling Donald, whom she has previously declared to be “right about everything” and “doing a great job”. Given the state of his party after the midterms, it seems the American electorate may have reached a rather different conclusion.

Perhaps next time Mar-a-Lago should check the guest list before inviting the Grim Reaper to dinner?
