The New World is a bold, independent weekly magazine covering politics, current affairs, culture and ideas. Formerly known as The New European, the publication brings together some of the sharpest voices in journalism to make sense of the forces reshaping Britain and the world.

The New World began life as The New European in 2016, founded as a four-week pop-up in response to the Brexit referendum — a spasm of anger, protest and fear as the UK chose to vote for its own decline. Almost a decade on, it gives us no satisfaction to say we’ve been proved right by the economic and political weakening now widely recognised as a consequence of Brexit. But one good thing has come from it all: we’re still here, still growing, and still providing an antidote to the trivialising populism and nationalism of so much of the UK media.

The world is facing challenges we’ve never seen before. We need fresh thinking, not the same tired answers from yesterday’s playbook. The reality is, we are all in a new world now. The New World is about understanding how we got here, and where we go next.

Like The New European before it, The New World is a voice that cuts through the noise. Bold, clever, funny and fierce — we’re not afraid to take a side or call out nonsense when we see it. We have strong opinions, but we also respect facts. We don’t do doom and gloom for the sake of it. We believe things can change for the better, and we’re here to help make that happen.
