Trump’s pal Bev Turner withers over Vine

The GB News presenter has launched a sudden and bitter attack on Jeremy Vine, her 5 rival and one-time frequent host

What’s eating Bev Turner? The GB News presenter and Trump cheerleader took to X at the weekend to lash out at 5 presenter Jeremy Vine seemingly apropos of nothing, mocking the journalist and his career in comparison to her own stellar rise.

Turner used to be a frequent guest on Vine’s show, where she clashed with the presenter over the Covid pandemic. Vine acted as an advocate for following scientific advice, NHS guidance and getting the vaccinations, while Turner was a fervent opponent of lockdowns, mask mandates and the jab, describing the worst public health emergency in a century as the “scamdemic”.

She was also a champion of the use of ivermectin, an anti-parasitic medication used to treat infections caused by roundworms and other parasites which the US Food and Drug Administration and World Health Organisation concluded had no meaningful benefits in treating Covid, and support for which saw her ridiculed on Vine’s show.

Now, years later, Turner has suddenly taken to X to – in true Alan Partridge style – have the last laugh. She posted to her 253,000 followers at the weekend: “I was laughed at, ridiculed and called irresponsible by @theJeremyVine @JeremyVineOn5 for looking at the evidence on #ivermectin…. but that’s OK.

“He’s still in flowery shirts on daytime TV. I now live in DC and talk to the most powerful people in the world, including the President of the United States on his personal mobile phone. It’s all good. I feel no hate. Karma always wins.”

It’s unclear why Turner chose this exact moment to gloat over Vine. It could be that prescriptions for ivermectin in the US have recently soared following claims it cured cancer – although given those claims were made by the actor Mel Gibson, who isn’t a doctor, that may be unwise.

Or maybe she’s just very tired? She did say way back in 2022 that she “won’t sleep at night until there are arrests over the despotic, unscientific measures of the scamdemic”.

Either way, it’s an odd time to boast about her close friendship with Trump, just as Ofcom has revealed it is opening a formal investigation into her fawning interview with him last November. The media watchdog announced last month it would, after all, investigate GB News for breaches of UK broadcasting law following The New World’s investigation into the broadcaster.

In the interview, Trump claimed climate change was “a hoax”, that London operated under sharia law, and that the capital had no-go areas for police – none of which Turner challenged. On the contrary, she told the president it took “real courage to stand up at the UN and drop so many truth bombs.” Now the interview is facing a formal probe… but that’s ok!
