Alastair Campbell has spent much of his career shaping, analysing and debating other people’s words. Now, for his 22nd book, he has created one of his own: Persevilience.
Last week, The New World magazine brought Alastair to Cadogan Hall for a live Q&A with broadcaster Mishal Husain. They discussed his new book, Persevilience: The Word the World Needs Now and explained why he invented this new word.
They discussed the ideas behind Persevilience, his reflections on the challenges facing Britain and the wider world, his political highs and lows, what he thinks now of Brexit and Nigel Farage, the upcoming US midterms and the protests in France.
But it wasn’t all politics – the conversation also turned to the personal, reflecting, as Alastair does in the book, on love, loss, friendship and resilience in the face of adversity.
Persevilience: The Word the World Needs Now, published by Atlantic Books, is out now. It argues that the ability to persevere with resilience is more important than ever, both in our own lives and in shaping a better future for society.
