Nigel Farage’s attack dog Zia Yusuf has been snapping at everyone of late – except the rival far right party that could deliver the Makerfield by-election for Andy Burnham.
In a series of increasingly hysterical social media posts, Yusuf has attempted to partly blame Burnham for the grooming gangs scandal, written that “white people are now demonstrably the biggest victims of racism in Britain”, declared “I view the Tory and Labour politicians who created the burning injustice of modern Britain as traitors to their country. A reckoning is coming” and falsely claimed both that “27 young non-EU migrants have been hired in Britain for every ONE young Brit” and that “The British taxpayer is now being forced to contribute to the purchase of FERRARIS, to the tune of £125,000 per car!”
Yet despite polls showing Reform bleeding votes to Restore in Makerfield, there has been next to nothing about the rival party, or Rupert Lowe. Insiders say this is down to two factors.
One, many Reform voters prefer Lowe to Yusuf – disliked by some knuckle-draggers because he is a Muslim, but by other party supporters because of what one ex-staffer described as the “brutality” of his personal style. And two, Yusuf is running scared as Lowe is still threatening to sue him for defamation over his claims that Lowe was a bully who had made threats of violence against him. Lowe denies it all but has called Yusuf “a deeply unpleasant individual”.
