For those fortunate enough not to know Laura Loomer, allow us to introduce you: she is a far right activist, a conspiracy theorist, a self-described “proud Islamophobe” and one of Donald Trump’s most devoted court jesters.
Her greatest hits include declaring Islam a “cancer on humanity”, calling 9/11 an inside job, having her press access revoked due to harassment and seeming to suffer from the most severe case of Mar-a-Lago face (the plastic surgification of Trump’s female acolytes) known to mankind.
So, has she taken the Republican Party’s spectacular midterm annihilation rather well? She has not.
On November 4 and 5, as the dust settled on Trump’s electoral car crash, Loomer became a woman possessed, firing off almost six posts an hour for a full 24 hours.

“Where was God last night? Time for people to think about that,” she wrote.
And, doubling down:
“If God is in charge, why did he let our country get taken over by Muslims and communists? Something for people to think about.”
Other gems from Loomer’s post-election spiral included saying America was over, that there was “no future” and that “massive political violence and terrorism” were on the way. She added, “I hope everyone is learning Arabic”, called the newly Trump-sceptic podcaster and former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson a traitor, described white supremacist streamer Nick Fuentes as brain-dead, and warned cheerily that “the future will likely include a nuclear holocaust in America as well”.

Will Melania stick with Trump until the end – or will she jump?
But alas, even the most indefatigable hate-peddling conspiracy theorists must occasionally put down the pitchfork, and so, the woman who once ate dog food on camera has since announced that she is stepping back from her show, Loomer Unleashed.
“I’ve been running on empty for too long,” she announced.
I think most people would agree, Laura. Although perhaps not for the reasons you have in mind.
“I’ll be back when the time is right,” she promised viewers. But after spending years cleaving to Trump while simultaneously alienating vast swathes of the MAGA ecosystem, including vice-president JD Vance, I wouldn’t be too sure.
