The latest MP to be too woke for the X mob? Danny Kruger

Reform’s moral arbiter-in-chief has been targeted by the online racists after saying that Christianity, not ethnicity, unites Britain

Proper Rats in a Sack stuff from the race warriors of the far right, who recently turned on Jacob Rees-Mogg for pushing back on defining Englishness in exclusively ethnic terms. Now the latest traitor to be banished is… Danny Kruger, Bible-bothering former Tory MP turned Reform’s moral arbiter-in-chief.

Kruger earned the wrath of the online racists after giving a speech at a Reform rally in Plymouth this week in which he claimed that Christianity, not ethnicity, was what united the people of the United Kingdom (leaving aside the fact that only 46.5% of the population defined themselves as Christian in the most recent UK census data).

Posting a clip of the speech to, inevitably, X, Kruger wrote: “What unites us? Not ethnicity. A common commitment to the country built by former generations. And the foundation of this building – in which people of all faiths can live – is Christianity.”

However, rather than nods of agreement and the spontaneous digital outbreak of Kumbaya that Kruger may have been hoping for, his post was met with vitriol from the sort of social media users for whom Nick Griffin was a little on the pinko side.

“Ethnicity provides that commitment to the country built by former generations, because they were our parents, our grandparents, our ancestors,” wrote commentator Connor Tomlinson, a regular voice on both GB News and Talk. “Because it’s our country. Continually insisting it doesn’t matter won’t make it untrue.”

Carl Benjamin, the YouTuber who goes by the pseudonym Sargon of Akkad and is best known for telling the Labour MP Jess Phillips that he “wouldn’t even rape” her, told Kruger: “This is so weird, Danny. The English had nothing in common so they randomly started a country, and this is the only thing that binds them together? Hard to believe you believe it.”

Other responses included “Reform will not save our people. They don’t even believe our people exist”, “Clueless liberal nonsense. Reform are a complete busted flush”, “This is sheer madness”, “White people build this country. English and British people are White”, “How anybody who is White British can vote for this drivel is beyond me”, various batshit claims of ethnic cleansing in Britain and a Restore fan saying it was “the gayest speech ever made”.

Rees-Mogg, Kruger – who’s next to be too left-wing for the X mob? Nigel Farage? Rupert Lowe? The ghost of Enoch Powell…?
