Yusuf pays tribute to fallen PCs - just three-and-a-half days late

Earlier this week Rats in a Sack noted how, despite effectively living on social media, Reform’s self-styled ‘shadow home secretary’ Zia Yusuf had failed to find time over the weekend to post a single word about the two police officers killed in a wrong-way crash near Middlesbrough.

Yusuf, as usual, spent the weekend engaged in spats and abuse on X, attacking the police after the death of Henry Nowak and the Conservatives for the levels of immigration under their rule, musing over the murder of a 13-year-old girl in Vienna by an Afghan man and vowing to prosecute employees of Serco for “placing foreign sexual predators into British communities” once Reform is in power.

He didn’t, though – despite hoping to be in charge of the police following the next general election – have a word for PC Tom Clough, 38, and PC Matthew Blades, 37, who died when a Volkswagen Passat, travelling the wrong way along the road, collided with their marked police car.

That finally changed on Tuesday, though, when, just three-and-a-half days later, Yusuf got around to paying tribute to the pair in his own inimitable style.

“I for one am angry,” he wrote, a state he seems to be in at any given moment of any given day.

“Angry at the gangsters, and yes also their minions, who terrorise the rest of us and get away with it. And angry at our leaders for failing us, and making our police officers’ lives a living hell.
