Why wasn’t Ann Widdecombe’s alleged killer at work, demands GB News man

Tom Harwood is the only journalist posing the big question: did the politician's alleged killer take the day off work?

Among the many questions surrounding the horrific murder of Ann Widdecombe, GB News presenter Tom Harwood has surely hit upon the most pressing – why wasn’t the alleged killer at work that day?

The right wing host reposted CCTV footage of the alleged suspect leaving his home last morning on his X account, writing: “Did he take the day off work to make this journey or were my taxes once again paying for someone’s idleness?” This is not a line of inquiry that investigators involved in the case are currently following.

Even among Harwood’s crackpot followers, many were left scratching their heads at his concern that an alleged killer might have pulled a sickie or been on benefits, with some pointing out that the presenter himself only puts in 12 hours a week entertaining the nation on Paul Marshall’s loss-making propaganda station.

Still others pointed out that Harwood’s colleague and hero, Nigel Farage, is no stranger to taking a taxpayer-funded salary and failing to turn up to work – the on-off MP for Clacton and leader of the Reform party failed to take part in a single parliamentary vote between March and June this year while still drawing his £98,599 a year salary.

Such a unique take is not unusual for oddball Harwood, a former public school boy and  Guido Fawkes staffer. This week he has also been opposed to Keir Starmer’s plans for an overnight social media curfew for teenagers on the rather niche basis that it won’t allow them to watch US rocket launches live if they take place past midnight UK time.

“You might want to study astrophysics at university, but you’re banned from being inspired by a live rocket launch if it’s scheduled for any time post-late afternoon in Texas,” Harwood fumed. Yes, Tom, that’s exactly what the youth are getting up to in their bedrooms at night!
