The Telegraph’s spectacular correction

The right wing paper, set to be bought by the Mail, was forced to correct an article in which it managed to get pretty much everything wrong

Mail bosses are said to be eyeing up plenty of “synergy savings” if their £500m bid to buy the Telegraph titles goes ahead, with big cuts expected where there is crossover. But judging by one recent correction the Telegraph has been forced to publish, it might be best to beef up the newspaper’s legal department.

It read: “An article ‘Starmer faces Lords revolt over migrants’ secret court appeals’ (Oct 17) reported that Upper Tribunal Judge Sarah Pinder was an activist judge in favour of open borders who wrote for a publication which advocated open borders.

“We accept that this was an error; Ms Pinder is not an “activist judge”, she is not pro open borders, and the publication she wrote for was a legal resource for immigration lawyers, not a campaign organisation advocating open borders. We are happy to correct the record.”

Still, they did manage to get her name correct. So that’s something.
