A presenter at the Rupert Murdoch-owned sports radio station TalkSport has branded a colleague a “moron” over his criticism of Gary Neville – and said he does not care if he is sacked over it.
Guardian writer Barry Glendenning, who co-hosts a popular weekend show with Max Rushden, responded after weekday mid-morning co-host Simon Jordan called Neville a “champagne socialist coward”.
Former Crystal Palace owner Jordan, whose partner is GB News host and former Brexit Party candidate Michelle Dewberry, blasted Neville after the footballer turned Sky Sports pundit blamed “angry white middle-aged men” for fomenting tension in the UK and said he had taken down a union flag placed on a building he owns.

Jordan added: “He lives in a very rarified world where his money and privilege has allowed him to live in a gated environment, not have to worry about NHS appointments, doesn’t have to worry about people being attacked in the streets by immigrants that shouldn’t be here in the first place.
“But when you’re talking about people in this country that have legitimate concerns and want to have a legitimate value set and push back against what they’re having forced upon them, for Gary Neville to say what he said is the exact embodiment of being a champagne socialist, insulated from the real world and a coward because the real issue is some of the extremism going on in this country.”
Glendenning, seen as several rungs below Jordan in the station’s presenter hierarchy, posted a video of the rant to BlueSky and wrote: “As a TalkSport employee I am embarrassed by this rebuttal of what Neville said. This moron pontificates without question. It is bonkers.
“And yeah, I”ll probably be sacked. Fuck it.”
