Self-styled Brexit ‘hardman’ Steve Baker – the former Conservative minister last seen flogging videos of himself on Cameo – has a new project. He’s looking to find the British Javier Milei!
Baker, who promised to devote himself to “skydiving, motorcycling, fast catamaran sailing” if he lost his seat at last year’s general election (which he duly did) has emailed supporters announcing the launch of Fighting for a Free Future, a new think tank devoted to find a new right wing leader in the style of Argentina’s oddball president.
“We are living in The Truman Show run by Whitehall and the whole political class is complicit,” writes Baker. “This isn’t mere rhetoric. It’s an accurate assessment of a system that creates housing targets it cannot meet, promises pensions it cannot pay, and raises taxes on working people while claiming to be on their side.

Milei gets stoned
“FFF will not get bogged down in day-to-day politics but instead fight in the battle of ideas, work to shift the terrain of debate, and set the stage for Britain’s Javier Milei to emerge at the next General Election. But who can it be?”.
Who indeed? And what better time to launch the hunt for Britain’s Milei than the week that the actual Milei, er, suffered his worst electoral defeat since taking office with his administration facing a serious corruption scandal and signs that the economy is slowing? In local legislative elections on Sunday for Buenos Aires province the coalition led by the chainsaw-wielding anarcho-capitalist was beaten by the opposition by 47% to 34%.
Still, if that doesn’t work out for Baker there’s still the Cameo. On the site, where he describes himself as “Rebel Commander. Government Tormentor in Chief. The General. Politician of the year. Godfather of the Conservative Right. The unlikeliest doyen of British-Irish relations. And Brexit Hard Man”, videos have more than halved in price to just £18.48 a pop!
