Rats in a Sack recently introduced you to Reform’s new foreign policy adviser, Alan Mendoza, whose unveiling was only slightly overshadowed by the revelation he’d once described Nigel Farage as a tinpot dictator.
Now the party has appointed a brand new small business tsar – and his musings on social media make Mendoza’s seem relatively benign!
Kevin Byrne is the founder of Checkatrade, a comparison website for tradespeople, and has thrown his lot in with Farage’s mob saying: “Roll on the next election. I believe if we back the doers, the makers, the fixers, we will rebuild the pride in the UK.”
But Byrne has plenty of other views not about plumbers, roofers or sparkies. Among his various postings on social media he has stated that he is against Covid vaccinations but does believe in the Loch Ness Monster, while also posting anti-Pride comments and sharing content from an anti-abortion organisation.

The new Reform defector who thinks Farage is a tinpot dictator
In August, he posted a link to a news article about a doctor whose licence was suspended in Australia over criticism of the Covid vaccine, writing a caption alongside it saying: “Most fell for the crime of the century.” That followed a post about Covid vaccine passports back during the height of the pandemic in 2021, in which Byrne said: “Many like me have been telling people for 20 months this is not about your health. They only want to control you. Nazi Britain is here. Data passports are just months away.”
He also appeared to admit ignoring lockdowns rules in a post last year, saying he “never stayed at home”.
He has also spoken out about the LGBT+ Pride movement, writing: “I am just shocked at the Pride movement… You’re associating your entire existence on your sexuality and that’s how everybody has to see you and, if not, you’re a bigot.”
And he has reposted a video from Live Action – a hardline US anti-abortion organisation – mocking pro-choice activists, given credence to the idea of chemtrails, the idea plane vapour trails are harmful, and suggested that the Loch Ness Monster is real, writing in 2022: “Why the Mass Media haven’t covered it I’ll never know.”
Quite right. Among the various conspiracy theorists, X lunatics and general fruitloops Reform has been acquiring, Nessie Truthers have been sadly unrepresented. He’ll fit right in with Farage’s mob!
