Harry Cole’s new YouTube venture has finally launched after the Sun’s former political editor was packed off to Washington by News UK bosses in a bid to give him something to do.
With his Tory contacts out of power, and not being groomed by News Corp bosses as management material, Carrie Johnson’s ex-boyfriend was long said to be keen on a transatlantic transfer, and finally got his wish earlier this year when the company gave him the title of editor-at-large and an evening talk show broadcast on YouTube and the firm’s little-watched Talk outlet.
Now the name of the show is out… it’s Harry Cole Saves The West!

Forget Frost/Nixon, it’s time for Frost/Truss
It may well be a deliberate invocation of Liz Truss’s terrible book Ten Years to Save the West, as Cole was a fan of the mayfly-like former prime minister, co-penning a broadly sympathetic biography of her, Out of the Blue.
If so, it is at least emulating her in terms of audience. Ten Years to Save the West sold just 2,228 copies in the UK during its first week on sale after a wall-to-wall promotional media blitz, entering the bestsellers’ list in 70th place and being outsold by titles such as the Ultimate Air Fryer Cookbook and More Confessions of a Forty-something F**k Up.
Cole’s YouTube channel, meanwhile, has at the time of writing, and following much publicity in the Sun, racked up just 237 subscribers, with 554 views of its initial trailer and 3,760 of his interview with UK ambassador to Trumpland Peter Mandelson. Worth every penny!
