GB News staff leave the daily grind

It may be axeing a third of its staff, but the channel can still afford to spend £32,000 on two new coffee machines

Someone at GB News hasn’t got the beancounters’ memo about cost-savings, as two new coffee machines, retailing at an astonishing £32,000 for the pair, have appeared in the studio: one in the Green Room for guests and another for the channel’s ever-dwindling staff.

The Rex Royal S500 machines – known as the Rolls Royce of bean-to-cup coffee machines – arrive just as the channel makes a third of its workforce redundant and continues to slash freelance budgets in the face of cumulative £131 million losses since launch.

“We’re all getting fired is the bad news,” one disgruntled staffer told Rats. “The good news is you can get a truly fantastic flat white on your way out.”
