Friends of Gawain Towler, Nigel Farage’s long-time spinner and right-hand man purged by Zia Yusuf in 2024, were rather surprised this weekend to receive a message in their inboxes.
“Hi, can I ask you to vote for me?,” he asked each of his 18,000+ X followers. “I’m applying to be co-host of a podcast event that Spotify organizes in collaboration with Google in all European countries and I am one of the rare UK participants.
“The maximum number of votes that are eligible is 450. So far I have reached 312. I would really appreciate it if you vote.”

Alas for Towler, he is not embarking on an exciting new career with Spotify, but had had his X account hacked, and was then locked out of it completely. He’s now had to start building his profile from scratch. Perhaps it’s that social media acumen which was on Yusuf’s mind when he gave him the sack two years ago after a full two decades spinning for Farage in the many parties he has led. Towler still sits on Reform’s board.
Still, if Farage needs a new adviser, may he be tapping up one prominent media figure with almost a million Instagram followers, 453,000 on X and 268,000 on TikTok? According to an interview in the Times at the weekend, Farage has been randomly texting the TV personality and former singer Kerry Katona.
“Nigel Farage texts me now and then,” she told the paper. “Of course he fucking does. I bet he used to love a page 3 back in the day. Maybe he wants a discount [on her OnlyFans account].”
Let’s hope Farage’s partner Laure Ferrari doesn’t find out – or, more importantly, his Bible-bothering fellow Reform MP Danny Kruger.
