Clarkson’s bid for Parliament still stuck in first gear

The TV rentagob is threatening to challenge Ed Miliband at the next general election. But he's been here before

The right wing media might want to contain their excitement at the idea that farmer, automobile enthusiast and annoying rentagob Jeremy Clarkson is set to challenge energy secretary Ed Miliband at the next general election.

“People of Doncaster North. Are you happy with your MP?” posted Clarkson
on X at the weekend. “Would you like it if someone from your neck of the woods kicked him out?”

GB News quickly elevated the “news” to the top of its bulletins, and it was picked up by right wing papers. Yet fans should not hold their breath for Clarkson to pursue a career in Westminster. It is over 12 years ago that he posted on what was Twitter in September 2013: “I’m thinking I might stand in the next election as an independent for Doncaster North, which is where I’m from. Thoughts?”
