Nigel Farage’s health has been the subject of Westminster speculation for weeks, and Reform’s leader has broken his silence to declare: “I think the fact they are spreading these rumours – which they are – is because it’s the last card they’ve got.” Now he has told the Times he is “feeling good”, his constituents and parliamentary colleagues can no doubt look forward to seeing much more of him in future.
Despite a clean bill of health and Reform breaking the 30% barrier in some major opinion polls, there is one blot on the landscape for Farage. He had been unconcerned by former ally Ben Habib’s new Advance UK party, despite threats that it would stand in key Reform target seats at the next general election.
But now Habib has won the support of Tommy Robinson, the diminutive far right agitator whose appeal for a sizeable section of Reform’s membership is likely to be undimmed even by his legal difficulties. Sadly for Habib, Robinson is unavailable for a joint press conference at the time of writing, having been arrested after flying out of the UK for what his supporters insist were previously arranged media interviews overseas (and nothing whatsoever to do with an incident at St Pancras station).
