We’re hiring! Join the New World editorial team

In this important role, reporting to the digital editor, you will build articles in our CMS, ensuring copy matches our in-house style and optimising it for digital performance. This includes editing video, selecting pictures and website plug-ins. 

You will work with The New World’s team of staff journalists and key contributors to create engaging video content. And you’ll help us spread the word on social media.

Key responsibilities include

• Sub-editing and building copy into the CMS, ensuring headlines are digital and SEO-friendly as well as in keeping with The New World’s style
• Optimising copy and content for all digital platforms
• Creating and editing short-form video for social media platforms and YouTube
• Writing and scheduling social media posts and building editorial newsletters
• Understanding how Google Analytics and data drive our optimisation process

Key skills

• Strong news sense and enthusiasm for digital journalism
• Experience of sub-editing stories for digital platforms
• Broad digital publishing skills, including experience of working with a CMS, knowledge of visual storytelling and an eye for images, as well as creative flair for info boxes, polling and graphics
• Experience of editing and sharing video
• Strong social media knowledge 
• An understanding of SEO and promotion platforms
• Experience of MailChimp, Substack and Apple News are desirable
