Alan Rusbridger Joins The New World as Editor-at-Large

One of the most influential figures in modern journalism joins the magazine as Editor-at-Large

Alan Rusbridger

The New World today announced that Alan Rusbridger, one of the most influential figures in modern journalism, is joining the magazine as Editor-at-Large.

Rusbridger, the former Editor-in-Chief of The Guardian, Principal of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, and most recently editor of Prospect magazine, brings decades of experience in world-leading investigative reporting and media innovation. His work has shaped some of the defining journalistic stories of the past 30 years.

In his new role, Rusbridger will contribute major essays and analysis, and help shape The New World’s expanding global remit, supporting the magazine’s mission to deliver fearless, provocative and entertaining journalism for an era of upheaval.

Matt Kelly, Editor-in-Chief and founder of The New World, said:
“Alan is one of the true giants of contemporary journalism. Having him on board The New World at this moment — when the world is fragmenting and the need for rigorous, independent journalism has never been greater — is both an honour and a huge statement of intent for our magazine.”

Alan Rusbridger said:

“I’m really happy to be joining the team at the New World as an Editor-at-Large. I’ve long admired the paper’s ambition, sense of mischief and willingness to swim against the tide. Such  free and independent spirits are rare in today’s media and I look forward to returning to my first love of reporting.””

Rusbridger’s first contribution as Editor-at-Large will appear in an upcoming edition. He will continue to write his weekly columns at The Independent and Prospect.
